Couple of weeks ago I had some spare time and was going through the pile of hardware at work that needed to be looked through.
Were a fairly large Supermicro shop and usually have fixes for every error, but this is one I hadn’t seen before.
The system would boot, but got stuck on “System Initializing…….” and in the right hand corner, F2 followed by 4 quick beeps.
I hadn’t seen this one before, I have seen 2F (which is RAM) but not F2
Looked up the manual but this wasn’t in there, beeps wasn’t and neither was F2.
Long short, turns out it was caused by a corrupt BIOS image and needs to be restored with the Failsafe upgrade method.
There are heaps of articles about this online, so I wont bore you with them
As soon as I did that, bingo! back online and running smooth.
Hopefully this helps someone as there were a lot of people searching for F2 but not a lot of answers!
